A NIGHT AT BURLEY OAK: Bees Knees Bottle Release Party
On Saturday night, Brad and I decided to head out to Burley Oak Brewing Co. and have a beer or two after a day of hard work on the house.
As a bonus, friends of ours had given us a gift certificate to Burley Oak for Christmas. Thanks Dawn & Joe!!!! But, it only got better. When we got there, the bottle release party for their newest brew, Bees Knees, which is a honey brown ale aged in bourbon barrels, was in progress.
The party was a 1920’s style shindig, and it felt like stepping into a speakeasy. People, smart people, who were aware of what was going on and bought tickets in advance,(i.e. not us) were dressed to the nines. There were fringed dresses, lace sleeves, headbands, great suits, top hats, suspenders and driving caps.
I was really impressed with the effort put into the clothing. Even the bartenders looked like a step back in time….
There was live music provided by The Late Saints, a Cajun style rock band. I even saw one girl doing the Charleston. Ticket holders also got Beer tickets and food provided by Blacksmith, which included sliders, antipasti style cold cuts and a variety of stuffed mushrooms. This was one fun night. Next bottle release, I am going to be sure to get my tickets!
